Human activity in this area can be traced back as far as 14,000 years ago to a Clovis site situated on Lime Ridge located just southeast of Cedar Mesa proper. These individuals traveled in small groups over large territories and hunted now-extinct mammals. As technology and societal structure advanced, people began living together in larger groups with more complex building arrangements.
